Crowds of East and West Germans gathered at the Brandenburg Gate to drink, wave the West German flag and celebrate the reunification of East and West Germany, nearly one year after the Berlin Wall was opened allowing East Germans to travel freely to the West. By October 1990 almost nothing remained of the wall.
