Thirty kilometers south of Nuevo Laredo, a United States border town, there is a large shrines erected for Santa Muerte (Saint of Death), the patron saint of lost and desperate causes, and a favorite among drug traffickers. The shrines here is often visited and respected by drug traffickers from Nuevo Laredo a town that has seen some of the most extreme violence and murder in the past few years.
