William Gardner and his wife Kelly are two of many who have turned Detroit's vacant lots into urban gardens. William has been working his garden to 2 years now and has managed to farm 8 lots with vegetables and herbs and provide food for his family and neighbors. He also sells his vegetables and his wife's herbs at the Saturday farmer's market. They are raising two young children and have chickens, goats and ducks as well. Urban gardening has taken Detroit by storm with so many vacant lots open after homes were foreclosed, abandoned and demolished.
