Paris, France.November 15, 2007..International trains at Gare Du Nord are rare on a nationwide day of strikes. Many tracks remain empty as only 150 of the usual 700 TGV high-speed trains were running. French unions launch an open-ended strike in public transport (SNCF, RATP, ...), power utilities, education, and hospitals, in a major test for President Nicolas Sarkozy's reform plans. They are protesting against the scrapping of pension privileges that allow some public employees to retire as early as age 50...
