Moscow, Russia
September 15, 2009
Now referred to as Moscow's Golden Mile, one of the main residential districts of Moscow, Ostozhenka has been almost entirely demolished and rebuilt by many new and young Russian architects. It is now a highly fashionable district to live with new elite residential compounds. Apartments in this district sell for as high as $35,000 per square meter. Much of the older architecture has been lost and heritage groups are fighting to preserve what little remains. Security in the district is strict and controlled building by building.
