Paris, France.November 15, 2007..RER trains at Gare Du L'Est were rare on a nationwide day of strikes. Commuters pack trains at rush hour to head home. Many tracks remain empty. French unions continue an open-ended strike in public transport (SNCF, RATP, ...), yet most workers at the EDF electricity and GDF gas utilities returned to work after taking action the previous day, in a major test for President Nicolas Sarkozy's reform plans. They are protesting against the scrapping of pension privileges that allow some public employees to retire as early as age 50...
