Slavic Village was one neighborhood, within intercity Cleveland, that was hit particularly hard by predatory lending and foreclosures leading to the mortgage crisis. Many of the abandon homes have now been destroyed by the city and vacant lots are all that remain. Certain sections have been addressed by community organizations and urban gardens as well as walking paths have been filling the vacant lots.
