Baku and Azerbaijan in general should benefit financially from the new oil and gas pipeline that will soon carry as much as 1 million barrels of oil a day into Europe via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline. The 1,776 km, $4 billion pipeline places the gas and oil directly into Europe by-passing Russia for the first time.
