East German souvenirs are sold on the streets as East and West Germany are reunited on this night. A picture of Erich Honecker, who was a German Communist politician who led the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) from 1971 until 1989 is displayed.
Large crowds gathered for the event, nearly one year after the Berlin Wall was opened allowing East Germans to travel freely to the West. By October 1990 almost nothing remained of the wall.
