Saint Bernard's Parish, Louisiana.May 27, 2006..Tony Manalla, in his 60s, came to watch his home of 35 years be torn down after it was moved off its foundation by hurricane Katrina. They raised 3 girls in that house and his wife's parents lived just across the street until they died last year a few months before Katrina hit...They have since purchased a home in Slidell. ..FEMA funded demolition teams work at leveling 6,000+ homes in St. Bernard's Parish damaged by hurricane Katrina in August of 2005...FEMA is offering to destroy homes for free up until June 30, 2006. About 12 homes are being demolished daily.
