Kiev, Ukraine.December 26, 2004..A pro-Viktor Yushchenko rally in Kiev as election polls close. He is joined on stage by his wife Kathy, two children as well as his political partner Yulia Timoshenko. ..Images of the stage are shown on two large screens set up at the ends of the stage...Supporters rally to support him as first election polls show him in a strong lead. ..The first round of voting was considered fraudulent when the ruling president Viktor Yahukovich won and the opposition candidate Viktor Yushchenko lost. ..Several hundred thousand Ukrainians took to the streets of Kiev and held daily rallies on Maidan Independence Square. The protests lasted nearly a month before the first vote was declared invalid and a new round of elections held on December 26, 2004. ..The demonstrations would come to be known as the "Orange Revolution" after the color of the opposition party.
