Paris, France.November 14, 2007..Most the metro and train platforms remain empty at rush hour throughout the city as people stay away for a nationwide day of strikes. At Gare d'Austerlitza a few metro were running. French unions launch open-ended strikes in public transport (SNCF, RATP, ...), power utilities and elsewhere, education, hospitals, in a major test for President Nicolas Sarkozy's reform plans. They protest against the scrapping of pension privileges that allow some public employees to retire as early as age 50...
